Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This policy explains how Magnetar Digital ("I", "me") uses any personal information you give me through this website or by email. I keep things simple: I only collect what I need to reply to you and to work with you.

Who I am

Magnetar Digital is a small UK web design business run by Connor, working with businesses anywhere in the UK. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), I am the "controller" of the personal information described here. You can contact me at info@magnetardigital.co.uk.

What I collect

When you use the contact form or get in touch, I may collect:

Like most websites, the host also keeps basic technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for a short time to keep the site secure and running.

Cookies and tracking

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or any other tracking, and it doesn't show adverts. The fonts and images are hosted on this site, so loading a page doesn't send your details to anyone else (such as Google). The one exception is the free website check, and only when you press the button (see below). If that ever changes, I'll update this policy first.

The free website check

When you use the free website check, your browser sends the web address you type to Google's public site-testing service, which loads that page and sends the results back to your browser. Like any website request, this means Google receives your IP address and basic browser details. Only the web address is sent, not your name or email. If you then fill in the form under your results, I receive your name, business name, email, the web address and the scores, and use them to reply with your plan.

How I use it, and why I'm allowed to

I won't add you to a mailing list, sell your details or share them with anyone for marketing.

Who else handles your information

I use two service providers, a website host and an email provider, who only process your information on my behalf:

You can ask me for their names at any time. These providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards approved under UK law, such as an adequacy decision or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long I keep it

If you get in touch but don't become a client, I'll delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you become a client, I'll keep your details for as long as I'm working with you, and business records for up to 6 years afterwards, as required for tax purposes.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how I use it, and to ask for it to be transferred. Just email info@magnetardigital.co.uk. I'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

This website uses HTTPS, and I use secure, password-protected accounts with two-factor authentication where available.

Changes

If I change this policy, I'll update it on this page and change the date at the top.
